Raman Optical Time Domain Reflectometry (ROTDR)
Raman Optical Time Domain Reflectometry (ROTDR) is a one-dimensional optical radar that provides an echo scan of the entire length of an optical fiber at Raman stokes and anti-stokes lines. It is capable of simultaneously measuring temperature at many points along the length of a optical fiber. In this technique, a short laser pulse is sent along the fiber and backscattered Raman light is detected with high temporal resolution. This Raman light contains information about temperature along the fiber.
